Liverpool’s next major transfer move could hinge entirely on whether Newcastle is willing to sell Alexander Isak.
Journalist Ben Jacobs recently shared on X that Liverpool remain interested in signing Isak despite having secured Hugo Ekitike’s arrival at Anfield.
He stated, “Liverpool are still determined to sign Alexander Isak this summer even after bringing in Hugo Ekitike.”
With Luis Diaz set to join Bayern Munich and Darwin Nunez expected to leave, Liverpool’s attacking lineup is undergoing a significant overhaul.
However, manager Jurgen Klopp isn’t rushing into negotiations for the Swedish forward.
“There are no plans to make a blind bid,” Jacobs explained.
“Liverpool will only proceed with a formal offer if Newcastle signals openness to selling.”
Newcastle’s financial situation remains uncertain this summer, and Isak is reportedly pushing for a move away.
Liverpool are waiting to see if the Magpies are willing to negotiate before submitting an official bid.
If Newcastle does open the door, Liverpool are expected to act swiftly and decisively rather than making a speculative offer.
Jacobs added that any bid would be made “with confidence, not just as a speculative move.”
Isak impressed last season with 27 goals and 6 assists in 42 games, proving to be a major threat in the Premier League — including scoring the winner against Liverpool in the League Cup final.
With Diaz leaving, Liverpool have funds and a vacancy up front, making a quick move for Isak likely.
This situation also raises the bar for Liverpool’s attacking standards, and the club’s next steps will depend on Isak’s intentions and Newcastle’s stance on a potential sale.
