According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are currently negotiating a record-breaking offer with Newcastle United for striker Alexander Isak.
Since joining Newcastle, Isak has emerged as one of the top forwards in world football, attracting attention from clubs across Europe. However, Newcastle are determined to keep their star player, making any transfer efforts challenging.
Liverpool are looking to add a new centre-forward this summer after reinforcing other positions with signings like Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez. With Darwin Nunez underperforming, securing a new striker has become a priority.
Liverpool have initiated direct talks with Newcastle regarding a record bid for Isak. While Newcastle aim to retain him and offer a new contract, Liverpool are pushing to lure him away from St James’ Park.
Romano shared on X that Liverpool’s approach is club-to-club, and if Isak isn’t available, Liverpool may turn their attention to Ekitike. The final decision rests with Newcastle, who have no intention of selling Isak and want to extend his deal.
On his YouTube channel, Romano confirmed Liverpool’s direct interest in the Swedish forward as they seek to finalize a high-profile transfer. Back in June, GIVEMESPORT reported Liverpool were ready to make Isak the most expensive British signing, and they now appear to be moving forward with that plan.
David Ornstein added that a £120 million offer could pique Liverpool’s interest.
