Liverpool supporters were eager to see their new signings, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, in action and got the chance during the second half of their friendly match away at Deepdale against Preston North-End.
Following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s lengthy transfer saga to Real Madrid, Reds fans are keen to observe how Frimpong will settle into the right-back role. Since Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson have long been staples in Liverpool’s full-back positions, supporters are also curious to see how Kerkez performed on the left side.
Jeremie Frimpong Impresses on Debut
Liverpool fans reacted positively to his performance.
With such a large and passionate fan base, Liverpool supporters hold high standards for new players. New signings always face close scrutiny on their debuts, but Arne Slot and Frimpong can be pleased as fans were impressed by his display. Although playing against Championship opposition early in pre-season isn’t the toughest challenge, fans saw Frimpong’s presence as a definite plus.
One fan tweeted: “The recovery pace from Frimpong in defensive transitions is monstrous.” This kind of praise will help Frimpong settle at Liverpool. Considering Robertson and Alexander-Arnold played 279 games together, finding full-back replacements was always going to be challenging — but Liverpool appear to have succeeded. Another fan gave approval on Twitter: “A big fan of Kerkez and Frimpong being flying fullbacks running down the wing and injecting pace into this squad.”
Milos Kerkez Looks Confident in Liverpool Colors
Supporters are excited to see him play in the upcoming season.
Kerkez brings Premier League experience, having appeared in 74 matches for AFC Bournemouth. While Andy Robertson remains a Liverpool player, at 31, the club must plan for the future. Based on today’s showing, fans are happy with what Kerkez delivered. One tweeted: “Kerkez is going straight in my FPL side. He’s relentless in the final third. Also think he’ll play more than Frimpong as there’s no Bradley equivalent competing with him.”
Another fan suggested both new signings could be key contributors: “Frimpong and Kerkez are gonna be so fun to watch this year.” As Liverpool aims to defend the English title for the first time since 1983-84, fan reactions suggest both players could play important roles this season.
