Liverpool’s transfer team might still have a surprise option in their pursuit of a top-class striker. Although it seemed unlikely, reports from Fabrizio Romano indicate that the Reds’ hopes of signing Napoli’s prolific forward Victor Osimhen remain alive.
Despite Osimhen’s standout loan spell at Galatasaray, where he scored 37 goals in 41 games, Napoli seem willing to sell this summer. This possibility has reignited interest at Anfield.
Liverpool have already spent heavily this window, bringing in players like Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, but they appear ready to go further in their search for a replacement for Darwin Nunez.
Recently, Galatasaray have been positioning themselves to make Osimhen’s move permanent after his impressive loan stint. However, Liverpool could still enter the competition for his signature.
On YouTube, Romano commented:
“Currently, Napoli believe other clubs might join the bidding for Osimhen, so they are not accepting any offer just yet. But Galatasaray are definitely pushing hard and are very insistent.”
Liverpool will need to act quickly. With Galatasaray reportedly preparing offers around €75 million, the Reds must match or beat this to turn their hopes into a concrete deal.
If Liverpool’s management can handle the financial side and offload some players, they could secure the elite striker Arne Slot has been aiming for.
Landing Osimhen would energize Liverpool’s attack and send a strong message of ambition across Europe.
However, time is running out as Galatasaray have already made their move.
