Liverpool are set to lose promising young midfielder Isaac Moran after the 16-year-old rejected a new contract offer from the club.
The England youth international, who has already played for Liverpool’s U18s despite his age, is reportedly close to joining Newcastle United, according to Craig Hope of Mail Sport via his X account.
Moran, who has captained his country multiple times, seems eager to take on a new challenge in the North East, despite growing up as a Liverpool fan.
His potential move has been described as a “great coup” by Academy analyst Lewis Bower, who praised Moran as a versatile talent with excellent passing ability, capable of playing both in midfield and defence.
Losing such a high-potential player is undoubtedly disappointing, but the club wishes him well in the next stage of his career.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s new head coach Arne Slot is actively building his squad for the 2025/26 season. The club has secured the signings of Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, as well as Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth after an impressive season.
Further transfer activity is expected this summer, and fans remain optimistic that the club will make the right moves.
