While Liverpool may have dominated the Premier League last season, manager Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes are showing no signs of easing up in the transfer market. As they prepare to defend their title and push further in European competition, they’re continuing to reshape the squad.
According to Fichajes, the Reds are plotting a bold move to land Barcelona pair Fermin Lopez and Andreas Christensen. The report claims Liverpool are ready to submit a €100 million bid—€80 million for Lopez and €20 million for Christensen—highlighting their ambition to keep evolving despite last season’s success.
So far this summer, Liverpool have already been active, bringing in Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Armin Pecsi, Freddie Woodman, and Giorgi Mamardashvili. However, securing Lopez and Christensen would represent a major statement from the reigning champions.
Fichajes reports that the club is making an assertive effort to sway Barcelona’s decision-makers. Slot is reportedly impressed with Fermin’s versatility and technical ability, viewing the young midfielder as a valuable addition to a midfield that includes Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Christensen, meanwhile, would bolster Liverpool’s defense, especially after the departure of Jarell Quansah. With his previous Premier League experience at Chelsea, the Danish centre-back could offer much-needed depth at the back.
Despite the strong interest in Lopez and Christensen, some believe the reported €100 million price tag is excessive—particularly since Liverpool’s most pressing need is a new striker. The club is reportedly considering replacing Darwin Núñez and wants a forward who can share the scoring load with Mohamed Salah.
Additionally, before finalizing any further deals, Liverpool are expected to offload fringe players to free up funds and space in the squad.
