Liverpool’s summer transfer strategy may largely depend on the future of Luis Diaz, as the Colombian winger’s situation at Anfield is closely tied to the club’s possible pursuit of Real Madrid star Rodrygo.
Liverpool are eager to keep Diaz, who played a key role in their successful Premier League campaign last season.
However, interest from overseas, including tempting offers from Saudi Pro League clubs, has complicated the situation, pushing Liverpool to prepare for the possibility of selling him if a substantial bid arrives.
Luis Diaz is attracting attention from top European clubs this summer. Barcelona and Bayern Munich are the main European sides interested in the Liverpool forward. Although the Premier League champions are not currently planning to sell him, they have a contingency plan if Diaz does leave.
If Diaz departs, Liverpool are expected to seek a top-quality replacement. Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, who is also a target for Arsenal, has been identified as a potential successor at Anfield, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
Arsenal have been strongly linked with Rodrygo as they look to boost Mikel Arteta’s attack for another Premier League title push, but Liverpool could enter the race if Diaz’s departure opens a spot in their frontline.
While Rodrygo has not indicated any intention to leave Real Madrid this summer, he has dropped down the pecking order under new coach Xabi Alonso, and his limited minutes during the Club World Cup might lead him to rethink his future.
Liverpool are not currently planning to sell Luis Diaz. At present, Liverpool’s position is to keep Diaz unless an offer meeting their valuation arrives. If they do lose him, it would be a setback for Arsenal, who are keen to sign Rodrygo this summer.
The Real Madrid star is open to a Premier League move, with both Liverpool and Arsenal offering attractive opportunities to begin a new chapter in his career.
Both clubs have the financial resources to complete a deal, and ultimately the decision could come down to the player’s preference.
In addition, Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a move for a Champions League-winning star from PSG as a potential replacement for Luis Diaz.
