Barcelona Eye Move for Luis Diaz Amid Unusual Contract Request
Liverpool forward Luis Diaz has emerged as a potential summer transfer target for Barcelona, with reports suggesting the Colombian is keen on a move to the Spanish giants.
According to Spanish outlet AS, Diaz dreams of playing for Barcelona and is open to joining them this summer—even if the club cannot immediately register him due to financial constraints.
Diaz Issues Unconventional Condition
The report notes that Diaz has made a distinctive demand: he wants substantial financial compensation if Barcelona fail to register him by August 31. In such a scenario, he would be sidelined until January, and is seeking assurance in the form of a generous payout. Despite the risk of a delayed debut, Diaz appears willing to wait if the terms are right.
Barcelona are reportedly already working with Diaz’s representatives to draft a potential contract.
Will Liverpool Approve the Transfer?
Liverpool’s stance on Diaz’s potential exit remains uncertain. The Colombian international was a key player last season, often sharing the attacking burden with Mohamed Salah. While Liverpool have added Florian Wirtz to their squad, they still require more attacking depth. Letting go of Diaz could weaken their frontline, especially after the unfortunate passing of Diogo Jota, which has left the team short on options.
Initially valued at around €70 million, Diaz’s transfer situation has become more complex. Given their current lack of attacking depth, Liverpool may be reluctant to let him leave unless an irresistible offer is made.
