Liverpool have finally scheduled a medical for next week for a transfer target also wanted by a Premier League rival.

Liverpool Reportedly Land Another Summer Signing

According to reports, Liverpool have wrapped up another signing this summer.

The club is said to have agreed to a six-figure transfer fee for 16-year-old Blackpool prospect Gabriel Schluter.

This acquisition would mark the sixth new arrival at the AXA Training Centre during the current transfer window. Other names joining the squad include goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, right-back Jeremie Frimpong, goalkeeper Armin Pecsi, attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, and left-back Milos Kerkez.

Excluding Mamardashvili — whose move was finalized last summer — Schluter would be Liverpool’s fifth new signing of the current window.

Schluter Set for Move to Premier League Champions?

According to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, Liverpool have scheduled a medical for Schluter next week.

The young midfielder has caught attention following standout displays in Blackpool’s youth ranks and made his senior debut in a Bristol Street Motors Trophy match against Liverpool U21s. Although the game ended 0-0 and was decided on penalties (which the Reds won), Schluter made an impression by successfully converting his spot-kick.

Interest from Fulham and Stockport

Liverpool aren’t the only club that rated Schluter highly. Fulham and Stockport were reportedly monitoring the teenager, according to Football League World.

He capped off his strong season by winning Blackpool Academy’s Players’ Player of the Year award in 2024.

Meanwhile, Liverpool Eyeing Hugo Ekitike?

Attention also turns to Liverpool’s pursuit of attacking reinforcements. While Newcastle remain firm in their stance on not selling Alexander Isak, it remains uncertain whether that position—or the striker’s—will hold until the window closes on September 1.

Should a deal for Darwin Núñez to Napoli go through, Liverpool are thought to be considering Hugo Ekitike as a possible replacement.

The French striker could cost around £85.4m, and it’s unclear whether Liverpool would be willing to spend that much. If they are, a question arises—would they go even higher to land Isak?

Latest on Ekitike’s Situation

Christian Falk told CaughtOffside: “There’s no significant update on Ekitike. Eintracht are still holding out for €100m, though it’s doubtful they’ll get that much.

“Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are still tracking him, but only United have held any talks with Eintracht. No bids or negotiations have taken place so far.”

Liverpool’s next moves may hinge on finalizing Darwin Núñez’s potential departure, as they aim to manage their finances during the summer rebuild.
