Chelsea are on high alert amid unexpected interest from Liverpool, who could move for one of their players valued at £50 million.

Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs monitoring a possible summer move for Liverpool attacking midfielder Harvey Elliott.

The 22-year-old has struggled to become a consistent starter at Anfield, and sources familiar with the player’s situation have indicated to CaughtOffside that he may be open to leaving the club.

Liverpool are said to be willing to part ways with Elliott if they receive a suitable offer, with the club valuing him at around £50 million. While Chelsea are believed to be keeping tabs on the situation, Brighton appear to be leading the race for his signature.

In addition to Chelsea and Brighton, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Borussia Dortmund have also shown interest. However, a source told CaughtOffside that Brighton are currently the most serious contenders.

“The most concrete interest has come from Brighton,” the source said. “They’ve identified Elliott as their top target for the summer and are preparing a formal bid of £40 million.”

Brighton are optimistic about their chances, partly because they can offer Elliott regular first-team football — something that might not be guaranteed at Chelsea — and because of the influence of his former Liverpool teammate James Milner.

While Chelsea are known for aggressively targeting young talent and could see Elliott as a valuable addition, Liverpool may hesitate to sell to a direct top-four rival. Elliott himself might also lean toward a move to a club like Brighton, where he’s more likely to see consistent game time.
