Report: Barry Hunter already scouting potential replacement for Slot signing valued at £43 million

Liverpool are reportedly looking to offload Federico Chiesa during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Italian winger has failed to meet expectations since arriving at Anfield last summer. According to Sky Sports, the club is hoping to recoup around €15 million from his sale.

Chiesa Likely to Depart
A move back to Serie A has been suggested, and it remains to be seen whether an Italian club will step in to offer him a fresh start. Despite his talent, the 27-year-old has struggled for form in recent years, with injuries hampering his consistency and development. A return to familiar surroundings could help him regain confidence and rediscover his form. Crucially, he needs regular game time—something he may not be guaranteed at Liverpool.

Liverpool Eyeing Malick Fofana as Replacement
Meanwhile, Sky Sports also reports that Liverpool have already identified a potential successor in Lyon winger Malick Fofana. The club’s chief scout, Barry Hunter, is said to be a strong admirer of the 20-year-old Belgian, and Liverpool are considering a move that could cost around £43 million.

Fofana is regarded as a highly promising talent who could inject pace and unpredictability into the squad—qualities the team currently lacks in wide areas. With Liverpool heavily reliant on Mohamed Salah and Luis Díaz, bolstering their options out wide is a priority.

Fofana, who notched 11 goals and 6 assists last season, is seen as a smart long-term investment. The chance to play for the Premier League champions could be an enticing prospect for him and could further his development on one of football’s biggest stages.
