Liverpool appear poised to finalize multiple defensive signings this week.
They’re expected to kick things off on Monday by completing the final steps in Milos Kerkez’s anticipated £40 million move from Bournemouth.
This comes after securing deals for Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen), Armin Pecsi (Puskás Akadémia), and Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen).
Arne Slot’s side is also reportedly targeting further additions at both centre-back and striker.
Kerkez Set to Become Liverpool’s Fourth Major Signing
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Kerkez is on track to become the club’s fourth senior acquisition this summer, marking a reshuffle in the fullback department following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s free transfer to Real Madrid.
Andy Robertson, while not nearing the end of his contract, is said to be considering his future amid interest from Atletico Madrid.
That uncertainty could offer a reprieve for Kostas Tsimikas. If Robertson decides to leave for La Liga, Liverpool may rethink any plans to offload the Greek fullback.
Could Marc Guehi Be Next?
With Jarell Quansah having departed and Nathaniel Phillips also expected to move on, Liverpool will have more funds and a clear need to reinforce their central defence before the 2025/26 campaign.
There’s reported interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. According to Valentin Furlan and Rudy Galetti, the club is nearing a verbal agreement on personal terms with the 24-year-old.
However, his reported £45 million price tag could be a sticking point. As noted by Paul Joyce of The Times, Liverpool’s recruitment team, led by Richard Hughes, will be weighing whether to meet Palace’s valuation now or wait until next summer when Guehi’s contract is set to expire.
