Liverpool fans took to social media to react after noticing what Dominik Szoboszlai did during Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Real Madrid unveiling.
On Thursday afternoon, Alexander-Arnold was officially introduced at Real Madrid City.
The 26-year-old impressed everyone by starting his speech in fluent Spanish.
He said: “Thank you all for this opportunity. Signing for Madrid isn’t something that happens every day. It’s a dream come true. I’m excited to show my skills to the Real Madrid fans.
“I understand the responsibility of playing here. I will give my all to showcase my game and help win many titles. Thank you very much, and Hala Madrid!”
During the presentation, fans noticed that current Liverpool player Szoboszlai commented on a post about the event held in Madrid. Under a post by 433, the Hungarian simply left a heart emoji.
Social media reactions varied. One fan said, “Don’t read too much into it or is this annoying from Szoboszlai?”
Another joked, “Take away his number 8 shirt immediately.”
A third added, “Send him there too.”
However, some defended Szoboszlai, with one fan saying, “They’re best friends, so I get why he’s showing support. No worries.”
Another wrote, “It’s just a small gesture, guys, calm down.”
One more commented, “They’re friends on a personal level… just move on.”
Regarding joining Madrid, Alexander-Arnold shared: “It’s not something you dream about because it feels out of reach for many players. Only a few English players have played for and represented the club.
“Being here is a dream and very special. I don’t take it for granted, and I’m very happy.”
Real Madrid will now head to the United States for the FIFA Club World Cup.
