Marc Guehi has openly expressed his stance on leaving Crystal Palace amid a surprising Liverpool transfer development.

Liverpool are reportedly targeting Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi as part of Arne Slot’s active summer rebuild.

Having made only one permanent signing so far under Slot, Liverpool have stepped up their transfer activity following their Premier League title win and in line with Virgil van Dijk’s pledge of a big summer.

Jeremie Frimpong has already joined the club, and a record-breaking move for Florian Wirtz is in motion. Additionally, a deal for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez is believed to be close.

Attention at Anfield is now expected to shift toward player sales, with uncertainty surrounding the futures of Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa, and young defender Jarell Quansah.

Quansah, who rose through the ranks under Jurgen Klopp, has struggled for minutes under Slot and is reportedly close to signing for Bayer Leverkusen. As a result, Liverpool are looking for a new centre-back, and Guehi has emerged as a top candidate.

Since joining Palace from Chelsea, Guehi has been a standout performer, playing a key role in England’s journey to the EURO 2024 final. Palace turned down offers from Newcastle and Tottenham in the past, but with only a year left on his contract, they may be more open to selling now.

Speaking ahead of the FA Cup final, Guehi remained tight-lipped about his future, emphasizing his dedication to Palace while under contract.

He said:
“I think the most important thing is just always doing the best that I can for this football club. I come in every day and try to be the same, work hard. This club has given me a lot. I’m still under contract, so my focus is here. The most important thing is just doing my best and seeing where the future goes.”

Should Guehi move to Liverpool, it could raise questions about Ibrahima Konate’s future. Contract renewal talks with the French defender are reportedly stalled, and Real Madrid are eyeing him for a potential free transfer next summer.

After already losing Trent Alexander-Arnold to Madrid for a modest fee, Liverpool may consider selling Konate now to avoid another cut-price exit. Guehi’s signing would likely cost more than £40 million.
