Manchester City are reportedly on the verge of completing the signing of Rayan Cherki from Lyon, following an agreement between the two clubs.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has given his signature “here we go!” confirmation on X, indicating that the deal is all but finalized.
Cherki is expected to sign a five-year deal with City, who will pay Lyon a fee of €35 million for the versatile attacking midfielder. According to Romano, the 21-year-old is scheduled to undergo a medical and finalize his contract within the next 24 hours.
City are also aiming to wrap up the transfer in time for Cherki to join them for the upcoming Club World Cup.
Who is Rayan Cherki?
Rayan Cherki is widely regarded as one of France’s most promising young talents, having made his senior debut for Lyon at a very young age. Despite being only 21, he has already made 185 appearances for the club, scoring 29 goals.
Cherki enjoyed a standout season recently, earning a spot in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year and finishing as the top assist provider in both Ligue 1 and the Europa League. Known for his versatility, he is most effective as a central attacking midfielder but can also operate on either wing.
