Abbi Summers urges Tottenham to forfeit their match against Liverpool to prevent further embarrassment.

 

 

Abbi Summers has suggested that Tottenham might as well skip their trip to Anfield on Sunday and accept a 3-0 forfeit defeat to Liverpool.

Spurs are currently going through one of the worst periods in their history, having gone 11 Premier League matches without a win, which has dragged them into a serious relegation fight. New manager Igor Tudor has endured a miserable start since replacing Thomas Frank last month, losing all four games he has managed so far.

Things deteriorated further in midweek when Tottenham suffered a 5-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

Tudor’s difficult start has already raised serious doubts about his future at the club. Reports suggest that his handling of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky during the Atletico match has upset several members of the squad, creating tension in the dressing room.

The situation could become even worse this weekend as Spurs travel to face Liverpool. Sitting 16th in the league table and only one point above the relegation zone, Tottenham could slip into the bottom three if results go against them.

History also offers little encouragement for the north London side. Tottenham have won just one of their last 16 Premier League matches against Liverpool, while the Reds have lost only once in their previous 31 home league games against Spurs and have been unbeaten against them at Anfield since May 2011.

Because of this, Summers admitted she would rather Tottenham simply accept a 3-0 defeat rather than play the match.

She argued that facing Liverpool could cause more problems for Spurs, especially with the team dealing with major injury issues. Tottenham could be without up to 11 first-team players, including suspended defender Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, who suffered a head injury against Atletico Madrid.

Summers explained that forfeiting the match would save the team from travelling and reduce the risk of further injuries or suspensions.

Ending on a pessimistic note, the Tottenham fan predicted her team could suffer a heavy defeat if the game goes ahead, joking that even Liverpool players who have struggled this season—such as Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo—might score hat-tricks in what could turn into a 6-1 thrashing.

Her conclusion was simple: Tottenham should accept the 3-0 loss and move on.
