Official: Liverpool player pens new long-term contract

 

 

Liverpool FC has officially confirmed that one of their promising academy players has signed a new contract, as announced by the club on Tuesday.

While key first-team issues remain, with Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson’s deals set to run out at the season’s end, the club continues to secure its young talent. Following Ryan Gravenberch’s long-term extension last weekend, another exciting prospect has quickly followed by putting pen to paper.

As shared on Liverpool’s official website and social media, 17-year-old Finn Inglethorpe has inked his first professional contract with the Reds.

The Wirral-born forward—son of academy director Alex Inglethorpe—joined as a first-year scholar this season and has shone for the U18s, contributing five goals and five assists so far in the campaign. An England youth international, he also featured twice for the U19s in the UEFA Youth League late in 2025.

Described by liverpoolfc.com as a player “blessed with pace and natural finishing,” Inglethorpe has earned this milestone reward through his strong performances, prompting the club to act swiftly.

Academy coverage expert Lewis Bower pointed out on X that Inglethorpe stands out as the sole member of this year’s scholarship intake to secure professional terms, highlighting his status as a standout prospect among the group.

Slightly younger than Rio Ngumoha (by just under a month), he has witnessed the winger’s rapid rise into Arne Slot’s first-team plans. Slot has shown willingness to integrate academy graduates who demonstrate readiness for senior football.

For Inglethorpe, a competitive U21 appearance (let alone first-team action) remains some way off, as he is yet to feature for the under-21s in competitive matches. Nonetheless, this professional deal signals the club’s strong belief in his long-term potential and high ceiling.
