Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has criticised Manchester City for what he described as “disrespectful” conduct during Arne Slot’s post-match press conference, following Liverpool’s 2–1 home defeat.

The Premier League clash was packed with drama. Dominik Szoboszlai opened the scoring with a stunning free kick in the second half, but City responded strongly as Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland completed a comeback to secure all three points.

Late in the game, Szoboszlai was shown a red card, while VAR overturned Rayan Cherki’s goal in the same passage of play. Despite the controversy, City’s players were clearly in high spirits at full-time.

City’s celebrations disrupt Slot’s press conference
With City’s title hopes on the line before kick-off, a loss at Anfield would have seen Arsenal move nine points clear at the top. Instead, Guardiola’s side closed the gap to six points with a crucial victory.

However, celebrations in the away dressing room reportedly went too far, with loud music audible during Slot’s interview with Sky Sports. Keane was unimpressed, saying City had every right to celebrate but should have shown more respect by lowering the volume during press duties.

Silva reveals title fears

Bernardo Silva later admitted the team believed their title challenge would have been virtually over if they had lost the match. He stressed that City must keep fighting until the end of the season.

Guardiola, meanwhile, joked that he was unaware of such doubts, claiming he remained more optimistic than his players.

City now face Fulham next in the league, while Arsenal travel to Brentford. Guardiola’s side will be determined to stay close to the Gunners before their showdown on 18 April, with a Carabao Cup final clash also scheduled for 22 March.
