“Without hesitation” – Tottenham pushed to gamble on transfer after major breakthrough

Tottenham have been encouraged to make a move for Raheem Sterling on a free transfer following the official confirmation of his release from Chelsea.

The former Liverpool and Manchester City winger is now a free agent, and it’s expected that several top clubs could be interested in signing him, even if only on a short-term basis.

Former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara believes Tottenham should seize the opportunity, arguing that Sterling still offers more quality than the club’s current attacking options. He suggested that a short-term contract, potentially until the end of the season, could benefit both player and club.

Speaking to talkSPORT about Sterling’s future, O’Hara said he would gladly welcome the winger to Tottenham, insisting that he remains a strong player. He added that he would offer Sterling a deal until the end of the campaign if the player were willing, despite the possibility of lucrative long-term offers elsewhere, such as in Saudi Arabia.

O’Hara also stressed that if Sterling still has the desire to compete in the Premier League, Tottenham should give him the chance to prove himself.
Sterling’s potential move to Spurs would be another chapter in his journey across the Premier League’s traditional top six clubs.

The 31-year-old began his career at Liverpool before joining Manchester City in 2015, where he scored 131 goals in 339 appearances. He later moved to Chelsea and spent last season on loan at Arsenal.
If Sterling were to join Tottenham, he would have played for five of the Premier League’s big six clubs, leaving Manchester United as the only one missing from his list.
