German starlet eyes dream Liverpool transfer amid renewed links with the Reds.

Brighton forward Brajan Gruda has mentioned Liverpool while speaking about his ambition to join a “top club” later in his career.

The Reds were previously linked with the Germany U21 attacker two summers ago during his time at Mainz, with Bundesliga insider Christian Falk revealing that Liverpool had already made enquiries about him in the early stages of Arne Slot’s reign.

Although Gruda eventually arrived in the Premier League in August 2024, it was Brighton who secured his signature in a £25m deal. He later registered an assist for Yasin Ayari in Brighton’s 3-2 win over Liverpool towards the end of last season.

Speaking to Sky Sports Germany, the 21-year-old outlined his long-term goals, saying his biggest dream is to play in the Champions League and become a full international. He added that he hopes to represent a major club such as Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona or Liverpool.

However, Gruda still has plenty to prove if he is to earn a move to Anfield. His time in England has been inconsistent, with four goals and eight assists in 45 appearances for Brighton, a record affected by recurring injury problems.

He recently delivered one of his standout performances in Brighton’s FA Cup win over Manchester United, scoring once and providing an assist as his side eliminated the Red Devils. Yet such displays have been rare, with reports suggesting he has struggled with both form and fitness.

Despite this, the German forward has shown qualities that could attract Liverpool’s interest in the future. His statistics highlight strong aerial ability, impressive duel success, effective dribbling and creativity, suggesting potential if he can improve his consistency and stay fit.

While he remains some distance from the level required to secure a long-term role in Liverpool’s attack, improved performances and better injury luck could yet put him back on the Reds’ radar — and if Liverpool ever seek insight into his character, his Brighton teammate James Milner would be well placed to provide it.
