Liverpool could already have Andy Robertson’s successor lined up amid growing links between the Scottish full-back and a shock move to Tottenham Hotspur.

In a rapidly developing situation, Spurs are understood to have made a serious approach for the Liverpool veteran, with Robertson reportedly open to a new chapter in North London. His exit would leave a huge hole in Arne Slot’s squad — but the Reds appear to have a contingency plan in place.

That plan points to a familiar name: Kostas Tsimikas, currently on loan at AS Roma.

The story was revealed by journalist Ben Jacobs, who shared the exclusive update on X, claiming Liverpool are preparing to contact Roma in an attempt to terminate Tsimikas’ loan deal early.

However, the move isn’t straightforward. There is reportedly no recall clause in the loan agreement, meaning Liverpool will need Roma’s cooperation to bring the Greek international back to Anfield. Still, the player’s own stance could prove decisive, with sources suggesting Tsimikas is eager to return and fight for the starting left-back role.

Jacobs wrote:

If the move goes through, it would signal the end of a legendary era at Anfield.

Since arriving from Hull City, Robertson has cemented his place as one of Liverpool’s greatest modern full-backs — a relentless presence who played a key role in the club’s Premier League and Champions League triumphs under Jurgen Klopp.

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Liverpool are keen to avoid losing him for free, while the arrival of Milos Kerkez has already reduced his role in the squad — factors that have pushed Robertson towards a possible exit.
