Tottenham Facing Increased Pressure From Club To Sell Star

 

 

The 20-year-old attacker first joined Spurs on loan during last winter’s transfer window before the club completed a permanent deal in the summer.

A France Under-21 international, Tel arrived with a strong reputation but has yet to live up to expectations in north London, finding it difficult to cement a regular place in the starting XI. Despite his limited influence so far, interest in the youngster remains high across Europe, with Serie A heavyweights Roma emerging as one of the clubs monitoring his situation.

Reports suggest Tel is open to leaving Spurs in search of consistent minutes, and a return to France with Paris FC is still considered a long-term ambition. However, Tottenham are reluctant to sanction an exit during the current window, wary of further thinning their attacking options at a time when resources are already stretched. The club have already approved Brennan Johnson’s move to Crystal Palace, and losing Tel as well would leave Thomas Frank short of firepower.

Roma, meanwhile, are keen to strengthen their attack, with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini eager for reinforcements. According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Tutto Mercato Web), sporting director Frederic Massara has significantly stepped up efforts to secure Tel’s signature.

The forward has started Spurs’ last three Premier League matches and scored once against Bournemouth in early January. However, Frank recently left him out of Tottenham’s Champions League squad to make room for Dominic Solanke. Tel has previously acknowledged that adapting to the Premier League’s physical demands has been a challenge since his arrival from Bayern Munich.

A switch to Roma could prove tempting, especially with the Giallorossi sitting fourth in Serie A and still very much in the title conversation.

Tottenham’s struggles domestically continue to add pressure, with just one win from their last seven league outings. Frank’s position is increasingly under scrutiny, and a growing section of the fanbase remains unconvinced by the former Brentford boss.
