Tottenham ace pushes for exit after reaching “breaking point” as Frank makes ruthless call

 

Tottenham Hotspur are facing a fresh headache over Mathys Tel, with the young forward once again making it clear he wants to leave after being omitted from Thomas Frank’s Champions League squad.

Tel has grown increasingly unsettled in North London. Although talks earlier this month briefly convinced him to stay, his exclusion from Spurs’ European list is understood to have pushed his frustration to boiling point. The 20-year-old joined Tottenham permanently from Bayern Munich in June for £30m, just days after Frank’s arrival, following an initial loan spell under Ange Postecoglou.

However, Tel has started only six Premier League matches this season and is growing disillusioned with his lack of opportunities. Those close to him believe he now sees little chance of securing the minutes he expected, prompting him to renew his desire to move before the window closes.

His representatives have begun working with intermediaries to explore both loan and permanent exits, prioritising a move that guarantees regular game time. Clubs across Germany, Spain, Italy and France are monitoring the situation and stand ready if Spurs open the door.

While Tel is eager for a new challenge, Tottenham remain firm in their stance that he is not for sale, insisting he remains a key long-term asset. Frank is said to rate him highly, but intense competition in attack means he cannot offer the immediate pathway Tel is demanding.

With the player pushing harder than ever and agents actively testing the market, pressure is mounting on Spurs to make a clear decision. Reports from Fabrizio Romano, Florian Plettenberg and Ben Jacobs have echoed Tel’s growing dissatisfaction.

Unless something changes quickly, Tel’s future increasingly appears to lie away from North London. A departure this month could prove a decision Spurs come to regret. Long regarded as a top prospect, Bayern were reluctant to let him go, and despite limited minutes, he has still scored three Premier League goals this season.

Tottenham had to fend off Manchester United to sign him, but his next move may now take him outside the Premier League, with Paris emerging as one of the destinations being explored.
