Exclusive: Major Update Emerges on Rúben Amorim’s Tottenham Connection

Rúben Amorim is not considered a leading candidate for the Tottenham job should the club make a managerial change soon, according to Football Insider. A move for the former Manchester United boss is viewed as unlikely, with his turbulent departure from Old Trafford raising concerns among Spurs’ hierarchy.

Tottenham are said to be accelerating contingency plans to part ways with Thomas Frank, and while Amorim has been loosely linked, he is seen as a long-shot option. The Portuguese coach is also hesitant to return to management so quickly — particularly in the Premier League — after leaving Manchester United on 6 January.

Although Amorim reportedly received a £10 million payoff from United, his spell was overshadowed by criticism of his tactical approach and a reported fallout with recruitment figures Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada. Tensions he alluded to publicly following a draw with Leeds on 4 January have further cooled Spurs’ interest.

As a result, Tottenham are weighing up alternative candidates. Crystal Palace could emerge as a potential destination for Frank if Spurs act, while Oliver Glasner — who led Palace to FA Cup glory and qualification for the UEFA Conference League — is also on the shortlist. Any move involving Glasner could spark a domino effect among London clubs, potentially even paving the way for a managerial swap with Frank.
