Sources indicate how likely Tottenham are to make an immediate move for Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur have been told they have “no chance” of bringing Mauricio Pochettino back before the World Cup, according to sources cited by Football Insider. The former Spurs boss is fully committed to guiding the United States through their home tournament, meaning any potential return to north London would only be possible after the USA exit the competition, despite growing pressure on Thomas Frank.

Should Frank lose his job, Spurs are expected to turn to an interim head coach while keeping Pochettino in mind for the longer term. The 53-year-old remains highly regarded at the club after leading Tottenham to their first-ever Champions League final and one of their best Premier League finishes. His familiarity with the club and proven track record in English football continue to appeal to the hierarchy.

Pochettino took charge of the US national team in September 2024 on a deal that runs through the World Cup. With the Americans keen to have a high-profile manager for their home event, Spurs would be able to make a move once his contract expires, without needing to pay compensation. His short spell at Chelsea has not damaged his standing at Tottenham.

Brighton head coach Fabian Hürzeler is also being monitored by Spurs.
