Spurs suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss to their London rivals, further increasing pressure on their manager. Callum Wilson came off the bench to score a stoppage-time winner for West Ham in a tense atmosphere.
After the final whistle, Tottenham fans jeered Frank as he walked down the tunnel.
The defeat marked Spurs’ ninth Premier League loss of the season, putting Frank’s future at the club in serious doubt.
Former Spurs midfielder and manager Tim Sherwood, 56, suggested Frank could be dismissed before Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said:
“It doesn’t look good. Spurs can’t win at home, and they’ve lost to their local rivals, who are struggling at the bottom of the table. The pressure is on Frank. The only thing that might save him is if the club can find someone better to replace him.
“They won a trophy last year and finished 17th. They won’t win anything this season. They’re out of both cup competitions and are near the bottom of the league. While they’re still in the Champions League, it’s unlikely they’ll win it. Where do Spurs go from here?”
Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock believes fans are eager for Frank to be removed—just seven months after he joined from Brentford.
He told the BBC:
“They’ve had enough. They supported the team today with flags and banners, but they want change. I don’t think the pressure is only on the club’s hierarchy—it’s on Thomas Frank too. Both managers faced huge pressure today, and it seems Nuno has come out on top.”
Despite the criticism, Frank, 52, asked supporters to continue backing the team as he attempts to salvage the season.
In his post-match press conference, he said:
“I’ve had better days. I’m the one in charge, and I understand the frustration. The fans need to support the players and help push them forward. We will keep moving forward.
“This is a perfect storm right now. A last-minute defeat feels like a sucker punch—it’s incredibly hard to take. Football is emotional, and the only way is to keep going forward.”
