UFC star Paddy Pimblett suggests Liverpool might part ways with Arne Slot in 2026

 

 

Arne Slot has struggled to match the success of his debut season, when Liverpool claimed their second Premier League title.

Earlier in the season, fan frustration grew during a run of nine losses in 12 games, with some calling for Slot’s replacement. Results have improved since, as Liverpool aim for a 12-game unbeaten streak when they face Burnley on Saturday. However, many of these recent matches have ended in draws or narrow victories, and inconsistent performances remain a key concern.

Even high-profile supporters like UFC star Paddy Pimblett have voiced their displeasure. Speaking to BBC Sport, Pimblett hinted that a change could come at the end of the 2025/26 season. He said:

“I’ve never been one to say ‘sack him, sack him,’ but by the end of the season, I can see them parting ways.

It’s just too boring at the moment. We were spoiled under Jurgen. I’m sick of the endless passing at the back—I’d rather see a shot or a long ball. The Leeds game recently was one of the worst I’ve watched.”

While Liverpool’s owners, FSG, are not known for making quick decisions, a mid-season managerial change is still possible. David Lynch suggested that an interim coach could be considered if results take a serious downturn. He explained:

“An interim is on the table if things get really bad. They clearly didn’t want to act after the nine defeats in 12, choosing Slot over an interim. But if another severe losing streak happens—say, nine losses in 12 games again—they could go that route.”
