Liverpool Supporters Rage at Two Arne Slot Calls Following Another Leeds Draw

 

 

Liverpool supporters have turned on Arne Slot after the Reds were held to a second draw of the season, this time a frustrating 0–0 stalemate with Leeds at Anfield.

Despite dominating possession and registering numerous attempts on goal, Liverpool failed to break down a resolute Leeds defence. Hugo Ekitike spurned the clearest chance of the first half, nodding Jeremie Frimpong’s cross away from goal when well placed.

Slot tried to change the momentum with a raft of second-half substitutions, but several of his decisions sparked anger among fans. On 66 minutes, the Liverpool boss withdrew £100 million signing Florian Wirtz and introduced Cody Gakpo, alongside Alexis Mac Allister and Milos Kerkez. Gakpo, however, struggled to make an impact, repeatedly drifting inside onto his right foot with little end product.

Federico Chiesa and teenage winger Rio Ngumoha were only introduced in the closing stages, a move that left supporters questioning why both natural wide players were not brought on earlier to stretch Leeds’ defence.

Fan frustration was evident online, with one supporter branding Slot “clueless” for replacing Wirtz when a goal was desperately needed. Another criticised the manager’s handling of Chiesa, claiming he would not be missed if he eventually left the club. Others questioned why Gakpo was preferred ahead of Chiesa, while several highlighted Ngumoha’s limited opportunities, noting he was again handed just a few minutes after spending multiple games on the bench.

Although the draw was widely viewed as a disappointment, Liverpool remain fourth in the table and extended their advantage over fifth-placed Chelsea to three points. Chelsea, meanwhile, confirmed the departure of manager Enzo Maresca earlier on New Year’s Day following reported internal tensions at the club.
