Premier League star subjected to brutal chants after being seen at the World Darts Championship

Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven found himself the subject of light-hearted banter on Monday while attending the World Darts Championship. The 24-year-old used a brief pause in the Premier League’s demanding festive schedule to visit Alexandra Palace, where his presence quickly caught the eye of the cameras — and the crowd.

As he was shown on the big screen, sections of fans took the opportunity to tease the Dutch centre-back, with chants of “Tottenham get battered” ringing out in reference to Spurs’ recent league struggles. Still, the reaction wasn’t entirely hostile, as pockets of supporters were also heard singing van de Ven’s name.

Tottenham currently sit 11th in the Premier League, having picked up seven wins and suffered seven defeats from 18 matches. They trail the top four by seven points after an inconsistent run, increasing the pressure on head coach Thomas Frank.

Despite the team’s uneven form, van de Ven remains an important figure under Frank, registering six goals in 23 appearances across all competitions this season. On this occasion, however, football took a back seat as he watched Luke Littler deliver a historic performance against Rob Cross.

The 18-year-old sensation dazzled the Ally Pally crowd, defeating the former world champion with an impressive average of 106.82. Littler also hit a milestone 180 — the 915th of the tournament — breaking the previous record of 914 set at the 2024 World Darts Championship.
