Liverpool have been tipped to pull off a bold and ambitious transfer move for an Arsenal defender.

 

 

Liverpool have been urged to make an ambitious move for Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber as a solution to their defensive problems.

Timber has become an important figure in Mikel Arteta’s back line, featuring both at right-back and centre-back as Arsenal push to establish themselves as Premier League title contenders. Despite missing the Gunners’ 2–1 victory over Brighton through injury, the Dutch defender has been identified as a player who could significantly strengthen Liverpool’s defence.

Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock believes the Reds need reinforcements at both centre-back and right-back. Speaking to Aceodds, he pointed out that current options such as Jeremie Frimpong, Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley struggle with injuries and lack the durability required to perform consistently throughout the season.

Warnock stressed that reliability is a major concern for Liverpool, noting that too many players are unable to stay fit week after week. He also criticised the trend of using midfielders in full-back roles, Guardiola-style, arguing that Liverpool need a natural specialist at right-back — something that is hard to find, especially in January.

In an ideal scenario, Warnock said Timber would be his top choice, although he admitted Arsenal are unlikely to sell. He described Timber as the best right-back in the league, praising his quality in one-on-one situations and highlighting how impressively he has bounced back from his ACL injury.
