Tottenham’s Luka Vuskovic Hailed as Hero After Life-Saving Act in Bundesliga
Tottenham Hotspur loanee Luka Vuskovic, just 18, has been celebrated as a hero after helping save Eintracht Frankfurt’s Rasmus Kristensen during Hamburg’s clash with the German side on December 20. His quick thinking earned him the Bundesliga’s Fair Play Moment of the Month award.

Vuskovic, who joined Spurs from Hajduk Split in 2023 and spent two more years in Croatia, was sent on loan to Hamburg this season to gain first-team experience. He has since become a key figure under Merlin Polzin, playing 13 consecutive full matches.

During a 1-1 draw with Frankfurt, Kristensen collided with Hamburg’s Miro Muheim and was left motionless. Vuskovic rushed to ensure Kristensen didn’t swallow his tongue, an act hailed as “potentially life-saving” by experts including talkSPORT’s Andy Brassell.

Reflecting on the incident, Vuskovic said: “I’ve never done anything like that before, but I just wanted to help right away when I saw him lying motionless.”

The 2007-born defender’s loan spell is not only giving him valuable game time but also proving his potential to break into Spurs’ first team. While Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are the preferred central defenders, Vuskovic’s performances—highlighted by strong aerial duels, key passes, and defensive stats—suggest he could soon challenge for a spot.

Spurs monitored his development during a loan at Belgian side KVC Westerlo and, impressed by his growth, opted to loan him again for the 2025/26 season. With continued progress, Vuskovic could be a future mainstay in Tottenham’s defence.
