Liverpool climbed to fourth place in the Premier League after securing a 2–1 victory over Wolves at Anfield, on an emotional afternoon that included tributes to the late former Wolves and Liverpool forward, Diego Jota.

The hosts started brightly and nearly took an early lead inside the opening 15 minutes. Hugo Ekitike latched onto an excellent through ball from Florian Wirtz, but his effort was pushed onto the post by Wolves goalkeeper José Sá.
