Liverpool are reportedly considering a blockbuster move that could see them land a new attacker for as little as £20m.

Sporting director Richard Hughes is clearly focused on strengthening the Reds’ forward line ahead of January. Liverpool are already short of attacking options, a situation made worse by Mohamed Salah’s absence at the Africa Cup of Nations and Alexander Isak’s serious lower-leg fracture, which is expected to rule him out for months. Cody Gakpo’s injury has further stretched the squad, leaving Arne Slot with very limited choices up front.

This comes after a difficult summer that saw Liverpool lose key attacking figures, most notably Luis Díaz, as well as Diogo Jota, whose tragic passing alongside his brother remains deeply felt throughout the club.

According to Anfield Index, Liverpool have identified Karim Adeyemi as a potential alternative to Antoine Semenyo and have already made contact to explore a deal. The report suggests Dortmund could allow the German international to leave for around £20m — a figure that would represent outstanding value.

Adeyemi, still just 23, has registered nine goal contributions for Dortmund this season. With his contract running until 2027, he is approaching the final 18 months of his deal. For Liverpool, this presents a chance to sign a player with both experience and untapped potential.

The forward has featured 44 times in the Champions League, contributing to 21 goals in the competition, and boasts 146 goal involvements across his senior career. Known for his pace and adaptability, Adeyemi is left-footed but comfortable anywhere across the front three, making him an ideal squad option.

At £20m, the deal would be exceptional value in the current market. While he may not immediately command a starting role, Adeyemi could provide crucial depth and give Slot valuable tactical flexibility off the bench.

Should Liverpool manage to strike an agreement with Dortmund, it would be a major coup — and potentially one of the standout deals of the transfer window for the Reds.
