Alexander Isak has faced heavy scrutiny following his expensive move to Liverpool, and questions are already being raised about his long-term future at the club.

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has shared his views on the Swedish striker’s situation. Liverpool reportedly spent around £130 million to secure Isak on deadline day, but the forward has struggled to meet expectations so far. Having missed the entire pre-season due to unresolved issues at Newcastle, Isak is still working his way back to full match fitness. As a result, he has lacked sharpness and has been outshone this season by Hugo Ekitike.

Hamann believes that if Isak’s performances do not significantly improve by March or April, Liverpool could consider discussing a potential sale at the end of the campaign. He suggested that clubs such as Barcelona could show interest, given Isak’s proven quality during his time at Newcastle.

Despite his slow start, Isak’s talent is not in doubt. When fully fit and confident, he has shown he can be among the best strikers in the Premier League. Liverpool are expected to remain patient, as his absence during pre-season has clearly affected his rhythm. A return to form could see him become a key figure in Liverpool’s attack, with his technical ability allowing him to play across the front line.

That said, it appears highly unlikely that Liverpool would part ways with their record signing after only a few months. Hamann’s comments remain speculative, and any potential move would be complicated—especially with Barcelona currently facing financial constraints that make a deal difficult to imagine.
