Thomas Frank has spoken out after one of his Tottenham players was seen showing clear frustration.

Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank addressed the media after a hugely disappointing Sunday for Spurs, who were comfortably beaten 3-0 by relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest. Despite coming into the match on the back of a strong run of results, Spurs failed to show up at the City Ground.

The North London side had taken seven points from their previous three games in all competitions, but that momentum counted for little in the East Midlands. An error from Archie Gray gifted Forest the opener, before the hosts added two superb long-range goals to secure a vital three points in their fight to escape the relegation zone.

Spurs were clearly frustrated by the display, and Djed Spence visibly showed his anger after being substituted, throwing his jacket on the touchline. When asked about the incident, Frank said he had not seen it at the time but would review it later. He suggested Spence’s reaction could have stemmed from disappointment in his own performance, the team’s showing, or frustration at being taken off, adding that he would speak to the player to understand it better.

Speaking about his own feelings, Frank admitted that despite his calm exterior, he was battling strong emotions after such a flat performance.

He explained that although he tries hard to control his emotions, the frustration inside was intense, especially after three positive displays in recent matches. The Danish coach stressed the importance of remaining composed while delivering clear and direct messages to his players. He was also candid in his assessment, labelling the performance as very poor and acknowledging that fixing the team’s inconsistency will take time. Frank added that irregular performances have been an ongoing issue and one the club is working hard to address.

On Archie Gray’s costly mistake, Frank was understanding, saying errors are part of the game. While annoyed, he insisted the young midfielder would learn from the moment, describing it as a common situation in modern football and expressing confidence that Gray would make better decisions next time.
