Tottenham supporters frustrated with starter who gave the ball away 14 times against Slavia Prague: ‘I’m fed up watching him’

Tottenham fans were left disappointed with Wilson Odobert’s display during their 3-0 Champions League victory over Slavia Prague on 9 December.

With Spurs managing a hectic December schedule, Thomas Frank rotated his squad heavily for the European clash. Despite the comfortable win and the presence of club icon Son Heung-min in the stands, supporters were far from satisfied with Odobert’s contribution.

Odobert struggles to impress in rare Tottenham start

The French winger’s inclusion in the starting lineup was unexpected, having spent several recent matches on the bench. While he has featured more consistently in European games — starting four of Tottenham’s five fixtures — he has only made the Premier League XI four times in 15 matches.

Against Slavia Prague, however, the 21-year-old failed to make an impact on the left flank, especially in comparison to the in-form Xavi Simons.

Odobert squandered a major opportunity early in the second half and lost possession 14 times, highlighting a generally inefficient performance.

Key stats vs Slavia Prague (9 December)

Minutes played: 76

Shots (on target): 2 (1)

Big chances missed: 1

Possession lost: 14

Dribbles attempted (successful): 4 (1)

Duels (won): 9 (2)

He also struggled both offensively and defensively, completing just one of his four attempted dribbles and winning only two duels out of nine — figures that will hardly impress Frank.

Frustrated supporters made their feelings known after the match. One fan wrote, “Odobert is all style and no substance. Just another winger who doesn’t really offer much.” Another added, “I’m tired of watching Odobert cut the ball back every time with zero end product.”
