Two major insiders have revealed the remarkable position Liverpool’s hierarchy have taken regarding the possibility of sacking Arne Slot, even as his fallout with Mohamed Salah intensifies.
Before Salah’s explosive reaction to being benched for a third straight match last weekend, the main debate around Liverpool centred on Slot’s job security.
But while recent drama has dominated the headlines, it’s easy to overlook the fact that Liverpool are enduring a dreadful title defence and appear unable to perform even the basics on the pitch.
They are statistically the Premier League’s worst side from set pieces this season, scoring only two and conceding ten — no club has a worse goal difference from dead-ball situations.

Speaking on NBC Sports, Ornstein stated: “They are 100 percent behind him. There is no doubt in their mind right now about his future. They are backing him to turn things around and build on last season’s success.”
What about Mohamed Salah?
Transfer reporter Graeme Bailey claims sources close to Salah say he does not expect to remain at Liverpool beyond January.
Salah’s camp is reportedly prepared to push for a mutual contract termination, allowing him to join a new club — with the Saudi Pro League seen as the most likely destination.
However, while Salah appears ready to leave, Ornstein insists Liverpool currently have no plans to let the club legend go.
“That’s not to say Liverpool don’t believe in Mo Salah,” he said. “There is a feeling the situation can still be resolved.”
Pearce also reported on Monday that it will fall to Edwards and Hughes to attempt to broker peace between Slot and Salah.
