Mo Salah Fires Back After Jamie Carragher Labels Him a ‘Disgrace’

 

 

 

Mohamed Salah has now reacted after Arne Slot and Alisson Becker addressed his explosive interview ahead of Liverpool’s trip to face Inter Milan.

 

Liverpool’s star forward and all-time Premier League top scorer sparked huge controversy on Saturday night when he claimed the club had “thrown him under the bus.”

 

Frustrated at being benched for three consecutive games, Salah deliberately stopped to speak with the media after the 3-3 draw with Leeds at Elland Road. During the conversation, he insisted it was “obvious someone wanted me to take all the blame” and stated he has “no relationship” with Slot.

 

Salah was then omitted from the squad traveling for Tuesday’s Champions League clash, and both Slot and Alisson were questioned extensively about the drama during the pre-match press conference.

 

Jamie Carragher delivered the harshest criticism, calling Salah a “disgrace” in a fiery rant on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.

 

On Tuesday morning, Salah appeared to send a message of his own by posting a mirror selfie from the gym at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre, showing himself training alone. He shared the photo on both X and Instagram, receiving reactions from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson—Henderson even dropped a heart emoji. Dejan Lovren, a close friend and former teammate, also commented: “The only way to deal with injustice is to fight with all our strength.”

 

Slot faced so many questions about Salah on Monday night that Liverpool’s press officer eventually had to cut off that part of the conference after 10 minutes just to move on to discussing the Inter match.

 

Slot revealed that although they spoke before the Leeds game, the only communication since has been informing Salah he would not be traveling.

 

“We let him know he’s not coming with us,” Slot said. “That’s the only contact we’ve had.”

 

He described Salah’s reply as “brief,” but acknowledged that the Egyptian is “entitled to feel however he feels.” Still, he admitted he was “surprised” when he heard Salah’s comments and stressed that the club needed to “respond quickly.”

 

While Salah will miss the Inter match, Slot still believes he could reintegrate into the squad. The 33-year-old may return against Brighton—likely his final game before heading off to the Africa Cup of Nations.
