Liverpool ‘Drop Hammer on Mo Salah’ Following His Shock Interview

 

 

 

Liverpool are reportedly preparing a strong response to Mohamed Salah after his explosive comments in the aftermath of the 3-3 draw with Leeds United.

 

The Reds endured yet another disappointing afternoon at Elland Road, surrendering a two-goal lead after Hugo Ekitike’s quick-fire brace early in the second half. A rash tackle from Ibrahima Konaté gifted Leeds a route back into the match, ultimately forcing Liverpool to settle for a draw.

But the result wasn’t the biggest shock of the day. Salah, benched for the third consecutive game, publicly criticised both the club and manager Arne Slot in a post-match interview, escalating tensions inside the camp.

 

Now, Liverpool appear to have settled on a course of action ahead of their crucial Champions League trip to face Inter Milan. According to reports, Salah is set to be left out of the travelling squad entirely.

French journalist Fabrice Hawkins states that both Slot and the Liverpool hierarchy agreed that Salah would be removed from the matchday group and not fly with the team to Italy.

 

However, a contrasting report from The Athletic’s David Ornstein suggests that the final call has not yet been made, though Salah is expected to miss out. Ornstein notes that the decision will ultimately rest with sporting director Richard Hughes and the club’s ownership.

Should Salah be excluded, Liverpool reportedly will not frame the move as a disciplinary measure. Instead, it would be viewed as a one-off decision that will not impact his involvement in future matches — including Saturday’s Premier League clash with Brighton.

 

Speaking after the Leeds draw, Salah revealed that his relationship with Slot had abruptly deteriorated in recent weeks, for reasons he claims he does not understand.

The 33-year-old insisted his situation at the club is “unacceptable,” saying he felt he had been “thrown under the bus.” He even hinted that a January move was possible, despite signing a two-year extension only eight months ago.

 

Nevertheless, Ornstein reports that Liverpool remain fully committed to Salah and intend to honour his contract. The club believes the issue can be resolved without needing to plan for a mid-season departure.

Slot has yet to comment publicly on the matter, though he is expected to address Salah’s remarks during Monday’s pre-Inter press conference.
