Liverpool Owners ‘Make Their Choice’ in the Ongoing Rift Between Mohamed Salah and Arne Slot

 

 

 

Liverpool’s owners have reportedly taken a firm position regarding Arne Slot following Mohamed Salah’s explosive interview.

 

The Reds surrendered a two-goal advantage in their 3-3 draw with Leeds United on Saturday. Hugo Ekitike netted twice in quick succession after the interval, before Leeds struck twice just as fast to pull level. Dominik Szoboszlai restored Liverpool’s lead, only for Ao Tanaka to snatch a dramatic equaliser deep into stoppage time.

 

Yet the chaotic match was overshadowed by Salah’s stunning post-match comments after he was left unused at Elland Road.

 

The 33-year-old claimed Liverpool had “thrown him under the bus” and suggested his relationship with Slot had collapsed. The timing of his remarks has sparked widespread debate, with many — including Michael Owen — questioning why Salah chose to speak out just as pressure on Slot continues to grow.

 

Liverpool have now suffered nine defeats in their last 15 games across all competitions, including heavy losses to Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City.

 

Despite this, Paul Joyce of The Times reports that Fenway Sports Group remains supportive of Slot and has shown no inclination to make a managerial change. However, their patience “will not last forever,” and results — not Salah “stamping his feet” — will decide the Dutchman’s fate.

 

Salah, who has five goals this season, has been named on the bench for Liverpool’s last three fixtures after previously being a guaranteed starter under Slot. He was dropped for the clash with West Ham, did not feature in the 2-0 victory at the London Stadium, came on at halftime against Sunderland (which ended 1-1), and remained unused again versus Leeds.

 

With his AFCON departure set for December 15, Salah further fueled uncertainty over his Liverpool future by hinting that next weekend’s match against Brighton could be his final appearance for the club, despite signing a lucrative two-year extension in April.

 

Liverpool now turn their attention to next Tuesday’s Champions League showdown with Inter Milan.
