Liverpool to hold “emergency meeting” today as interim manager poised to replace Arne Slot

Reports claim Liverpool will hold an “emergency meeting” today to discuss Arne Slot’s future after the 3-3 draw with Leeds United.
Slot is under intense pressure, with Liverpool winning just four of their last 15 matches in all competitions and losing nine. Their form hit a new low with a 4-1 Champions League defeat to PSV, and they have taken only five points from recent fixtures against West Ham, Sunderland, and Leeds. The performances have been worrying too, as Liverpool surrendered the lead twice at Elland Road.
Slot’s decision to drop Mohamed Salah has added to the tension. Salah has been left out of the starting lineup for three of the last matches and didn’t play at all in two of them. Clearly frustrated, Salah publicly criticised Slot after the Leeds draw, saying he feels the club has “thrown him under the bus,” broken promises made in the summer, and allowed his relationship with the manager to deteriorate.
Slot is now among the favourites to be the next Premier League manager dismissed. A claim from a supposed insider on X (Twitter) said Liverpool will hold an emergency meeting today, insisting Salah has not asked to leave and that Steven Gerrard is prepared to take over temporarily if Slot is removed. John Heitinga is also reportedly on the shortlist for an interim role.
Liverpool journalist James Wathland has added fuel to the fire, reporting that captain Virgil van Dijk and other senior players have taken Salah’s side and want Slot gone.
