Liverpool’s Position on Mohamed Salah’s Future Revealed After Explosive Interview

 

 

 

Liverpool’s nightmare Premier League season sank even deeper on Saturday after their dramatic 3–3 draw with Leeds United.

 

Mohamed Salah, the club’s iconic forward, stunned fans and media by openly admitting that his relationship with manager Arne Slot had completely collapsed.

 

Salah dropped the bombshell after being left on the bench for three straight matches. The Egyptian star feels he has been unfairly targeted by the reigning champions.

 

“I’ve said many times that I had a good relationship with the manager, and suddenly it’s gone,” he told reporters. “I honestly don’t know why. But from my point of view, it looks like someone at the club doesn’t want me here.

 

“It feels like I’ve been thrown under the bus. That’s genuinely how I feel. It’s obvious someone wanted me to take all the blame.

 

“I’ll always support this club. My kids will always support this club. I love Liverpool deeply, and that will never change.

 

“But this situation? It’s unacceptable. I don’t understand it. I keep getting pushed under the bus again and again. I don’t believe I’m the issue. I’ve given everything to this club.

 

“I shouldn’t have to fight for my place every single day — I’ve earned it. I’m not bigger than anyone, but I earned my spot. That’s football. It is what it is.”

 

Following Salah’s explosive comments, BBC Sport reports that Liverpool are now “open-minded” about his future, with multiple Saudi Pro League teams circling.

 

Salah admitted he had spoken with Saudi clubs before signing his recent contract — and confirmed that he would have moved there had he not renewed his deal with Liverpool.

 

Al-Hilal, home to his former teammate Darwin Núñez, are believed to be leading the race, though discussions have not begun.

 

Since arriving from Roma in 2017, Salah has been one of Liverpool’s most dependable stars, scoring 250 goals in 420 matches.

But this season has been a struggle, with only four goals and two assists in 13 Premier League appearances.

 

At 33, Salah is also expected to miss a significant stretch of the 2025/26 campaign while representing Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations, which starts on December 15.

 

The timing of the turmoil couldn’t be worse for Liverpool — or for Salah himself. The forward only signed a fresh two-year deal in April.
