Tottenham Hotspur Bring Back Former Academy Midfielder from CD Atlético Baleares

Tottenham Hotspur have finalized a deal with CD Atlético Baleares to re-sign a former academy midfielder, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano today. The move brings back a player who developed in Spurs’ youth system before pursuing his professional career in Spain. Tottenham view the signing as a way to strengthen their midfield with a blend of energy, depth, and familiarity.

This acquisition is part of Spurs’ broader strategy to reinforce both their senior and development squads. Reintroducing a former academy player aligns with the club’s long-term goal of building a strong homegrown core while integrating individuals already familiar with Tottenham’s culture and identity.

The player returning is Armando Shashoua, who rejoins the club after four years abroad. Shashoua’s journey with Spurs began in 2008 when he joined the academy at eight years old. Known for his technical ability, quick movement, and intelligence on the ball, he stood out at various youth levels and trained with the first team, signaling his potential for a senior role.

Despite his talent, Shashoua didn’t make a senior appearance for Tottenham in 2020. To aid his development, he was loaned to CD Atlético Baleares later that year. His loan spell, which included four appearances, impressed the Spanish club enough to secure a permanent transfer in 2020.

Shashoua’s first full stint at Atlético Baleares from 2020 to 2022 proved to be the peak of his career so far. He made 43 appearances, scoring four goals, and became a key figure in midfield. His work rate, tactical intelligence, and dedication quickly earned him fan admiration and drew interest from other Spanish clubs.
