Insider reveals Arne Slot’s intentions as the Liverpool manager prepares for major squad changes.

Liverpool’s season has lacked consistency despite their heavy summer spending. After bringing in players like Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, and Florian Wirtz to build on last year’s title win, their campaign has fallen apart, leaving them well off the pace in the Premier League.

Arne Slot’s side is already 11 points behind leaders Arsenal, and a title challenge looks unrealistic. Key figures Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah—both of whom signed new deals—have seen their performances drop sharply.

Slot pushing for January reinforcements

With results worsening, Slot is preparing for more squad changes in January. A new centre-back is his top priority, given the poor form of Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté.

Transfer insider Mick Brown told Football Insider that Slot is still unhappy with several areas of the team and believes multiple positions need strengthening—centre-back, full-back, midfield, and possibly even a new forward due to Salah’s struggles.

Despite mounting pressure on his job, Slot still believes he can turn Liverpool’s season around. The Reds have already lost six of their 14 league games, compared to just four defeats across the whole of last season.

Marc Guehi back on the radar?

Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi could be a January target. Liverpool nearly signed him in the summer before Palace boss Oliver Glasner halted the deal. With Guehi’s contract expiring next year, Palace may choose to sell rather than lose him for free.
