Tottenham fans are still digesting Thomas Frank’s blunt remarks following the loss to Fulham, and his post-match comments have sparked plenty of debate across the fanbase.

The afternoon fell apart quickly for Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Fulham came away with a 2-1 win. An early error from Guglielmo Vicario handed the visitors the momentum, allowing them to storm into a two-goal lead and leaving Tottenham chasing the game from the opening stages.

Unsurprisingly, parts of the home crowd turned their frustration toward the Italian goalkeeper, with boos heard during the match.

Fans fire back at Thomas Frank after he criticised the crowd

Frank didn’t sugar-coat his thoughts on the supporters, branding sections of the fanbase “fake” for booing during the game.

Tottenham fans have since taken to social media to express their frustration. One supporter wrote:
“Says a not-real Spurs manager. How long until we get Poch back?”

Another added:
“When a manager earning millions lectures working-class fans who pay £60 to watch their team lose… that’s not a real manager.”

One fan went straight for Vicario:
“Vicario is a mistake waiting to happen. Back your players, yes, but you also need to make changes. Him being part of the leadership group is part of the problem.”

Another said:
“He’s been here a few months and he’s telling us who the real fans are? Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.”

A minority agreed with Frank, though. One supporter admitted:
“Not happy with Frank at all, but he’s right. It was embarrassing from our fans today. I was angry at Vicario, but the booing afterwards… grow up.”

Spurs must shift focus back to results

Thomas Frank will need to handle the situation carefully—picking a fight with supporters rarely ends well. The only real solution is improving performances on the pitch. If results don’t change quickly, the boos won’t stop anytime soon.

Vicario has since addressed the moment and accepted full responsibility for his costly mistake against Marco Silva’s side.
