Spurs star faces backlash for ‘appalling’ behaviour caught on camera following Fulham defeat

 

 

 

Tottenham defender Pedro Porro has come under fire from sections of the fanbase after appearing to angrily confront young midfielder Lucas Bergvall and walk straight down the tunnel without acknowledging the supporters following Spurs’ 2–1 loss to Fulham on Saturday night.

 

While some might view his reaction as a sign of frustration and passion, many home fans were unhappy to see the full-back directing his anger at the 19-year-old. Spurs got off to a nightmare start, conceding twice in the opening six minutes against their struggling London rivals, and loud boos rang out at full-time.

 

Pressure continues to build on Thomas Frank, with just one win in the club’s last seven matches in all competitions raising serious concerns.

 

Porro, clearly upset by the result, was seen gesturing furiously at Bergvall before storming away toward the tunnel. He removed his shirt and did not applaud the fans. The exact reason for his anger remains unclear, but some believe he was reacting to Bergvall clapping the supporters — something Porro perhaps refused to do after hearing the boos.

 

Fans on social media were quick to react. One wrote that they were fed up with Porro’s behaviour, criticising him for refusing to clap the fans, ignoring the manager, and instead taking his frustration out on a younger teammate. Another defended Bergvall’s effort and professionalism, calling Porro’s actions cowardly. Others described the incident as evidence of a growing disconnect between the squad and the supporters.

 

Fulham’s Kenny Tete and Harry Wilson were on target early, putting Tottenham on the back foot almost immediately. Guglielmo Vicario was partly blamed for the second goal after giving the ball away while under pressure on the edge of his box. When he later touched the ball again, some supporters booed him, and the jeers continued at the final whistle.

 

Thomas Frank strongly condemned the reaction toward his goalkeeper, calling it “completely unacceptable” and stating that those acting that way “can’t be true Tottenham fans.”
