Tottenham supporters won’t be pleased with how two senior players behaved after the final whistle against PSG.

Two Tottenham players who featured for the full 90 minutes against Paris Saint-Germain have sparked criticism for their actions once the match ended.

Although Spurs suffered a 5–3 defeat, Thomas Frank said he was encouraged by the team’s reaction after their North London derby humiliation. The manager praised their intensity and even felt they could have snatched a draw at the Parc des Princes with a bit more luck.

But what happened after the final whistle is unlikely to please him.

Romero and Bentancur skip appreciation of travelling fans

As the match concluded, Frank and most of the Spurs squad made their way over to the away supporters to show their gratitude.

The travelling fans applauded them in return, clearly appreciative of the team’s effort despite the loss — their first in this season’s Champions League.

However, footage posted by Chris Cowlin on YouTube shows Cristian Romero and Rodrigo Bentancur heading straight down the tunnel instead of joining their teammates. Fans present at the stadium also confirmed that Romero only clapped briefly from the halfway line before disappearing into the dressing room.

Spurs fans expected more from Romero

Frank will be keen to avoid another off-field controversy involving senior players, especially after previous issues with Micky van de Ven and Djed Spence.

Romero endured a rare off-night in Paris, making multiple mistakes — some directly contributing to PSG goals. And while his frustration was understandable, supporters expected more leadership from their captain. Rather than confronting the moment, Romero appeared to avoid it, choosing to leave the pitch immediately.
