A leading Liverpool voice has urged supporters to show patience with manager Arne Slot, expressing surprise at the tone of conversations following the club’s damaging defeat to Nottingham Forest.

“I must say, some of the people I spoke to after the Forest game – fans, friends, family – and how they spoke about Slot shocked me a little bit,” he admitted, highlighting the unusually intense scrutiny aimed at the Dutchman after the 3–0 loss at Anfield.

He noted a clear contrast between the reaction to Slot’s early struggles and the unwavering backing former manager Jürgen Klopp enjoyed during difficult spells.

“I have the feeling that he doesn’t have the unconditional love and support that Jurgen Klopp always had,” he said. “Klopp had ropey times. At one stage, he lost six games in a row at Anfield. But at no stage did I feel that we were speaking about Jurgen Klopp’s position in the way people have been speaking about Arne Slot’s position over the weekend.”

The remarks come amid growing external pressure on Slot, whose side has endured a turbulent run of form. But the message from those close to the club is clear: this is not the moment for panic.

“For me, there should be no thought and no talk about this manager being out of a job this season,” he insisted, calling for unity and a return to the long-term perspective that defined the Klopp era.
