Liverpool Zero In on ‘Perfect’ £100m Signing as Fresh Contract Clause Information Emerges
úA former Premier League star who has become one of the Bundesliga’s standout players this season has reportedly been marked by Liverpool as a “future dream signing.”
The Premier League champions were extremely active in the summer window, spending a record-breaking £446 million on Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Giovanni Leoni, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerke, and Alexander Isak. That total surpasses Chelsea’s £434.5 million outlay in 2023, making it the highest-ever spend by an English club in a single transfer window.
Despite the heavy investment, expectations have not been met. Arne Slot’s side have stumbled badly, suffering their eighth loss in 11 matches with a 3–0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Saturday.
Amid the ongoing slump, reports claim Liverpool have a strong admiration for Bayern Munich forward Michael Olise. Since arriving from Crystal Palace last year, Olise has flourished in Germany, producing 29 goals and 33 assists in 73 appearances across all competitions.
For now, Liverpool are not preparing a bid, according to Sky’s Florian Plettenberg, who says the club is currently prioritizing Antoine Semenyo. Olise is viewed more as a long-term ambition rather than an immediate target, especially since he has no release clause in his Bayern contract and both the player and club are unwilling to consider a departure.
Football Insider previously reported in September that Bayern value the 23-year-old France international at around £100 million.
Olise’s Bayern teammate Serge Gnabry offered glowing praise earlier in the season, insisting the winger possesses world-class potential.
“He has huge talent and is one of the best players in the world right now. I honestly don’t know what his ceiling is,” Gnabry said. “He can do everything — play centrally, hold the ball, beat players one-on-one.
“I didn’t know him well before and didn’t expect this level, but he has an excellent mentality. He works hard, he’s focused, and that’s why he still has so much room to grow.”
