Glenn Hoddle opens up on the ‘terrible feeling’ he had following Tottenham’s 4-1 loss to Arsenal.

Tottenham icon Glenn Hoddle admitted that the North London derby unfolded nothing like he expected.

Before kick-off at the Emirates, many Spurs supporters were quietly optimistic — and understandably so. Tottenham arrived with the Premier League’s best away record, having collected 13 of a possible 15 points on the road.

But instead of extending that run, Spurs suffered their first away defeat of the campaign, taking a heavy 4-1 beating and barely troubling Mikel Arteta’s men.

Hoddle: Spurs were clearly second best

Under Ange Postecoglou in the past two seasons, Tottenham went to the Emirates with courage, created chances, and matched Arsenal’s intensity.
In contrast, Thomas Frank’s side looked timid, sat deep, and still conceded four goals, prompting Hoddle to describe the performance as “horrible” to watch.

Speaking to Premier League Productions after the loss, the former midfielder and manager said:
“It’s a horrible feeling. Before the game you hope you can upset Arsenal and get the win. Spurs needed to still be in the match with 20 minutes left to build pressure, but it never got going. Arsenal dominated every part of the pitch.”

Frank under growing pressure

Supporters are beginning to lose patience with Frank, accusing him of talking about attacking football without actually implementing it.
Yet his success at Brentford was built on this cautious, structured style — abandoning it now would mean going against his footballing identity.

Changing approach suddenly also risks creating doubt among the players. Still, something has to shift soon if Frank wants to avoid completely alienating the Tottenham fanbase.
